Project Background and Requirements
As a hotspot country for infrastructure construction in Africa, Ethiopia's demand for high-quality sand and gravel aggregates in its construction market continues to grow. Basalt has become the preferred raw material for local commercial mixing stations and road engineering due to its high hardness and strong wear resistance. However, natural basalt often has excessive mud content after mining, and impurities need to be removed through sand washing technology to meet international standards. In 2025, Shanghai Dingbo Heavy Industry Machinery Co., Ltd. undertook the 100TPH basalt sand washing production line project of a large commercial mixing station in Ethiopia, aiming to provide stable high-quality sand and gravel supply for local infrastructure.

Project design: full process digitization and modular integration
1. Core equipment configuration

Shanghai Dingbo Heavy Industry has customized the following key equipment based on the characteristics of Ethiopian raw materials (Mohs hardness of basalt 6-7 levels) and customer production capacity requirements:

Vibration feeder: Adopting dual mass vibration technology to ensure uniform feeding of 600mm large basalt blocks and avoid equipment overload.

PE jaw crusher: designed for deep chamber crushing, it initially crushes basalt to below 200mm, with a production capacity of 150TPH, providing stable raw materials for subsequent sand washing.

Hydraulic cone crusher: It has a hydraulic system to adjust the size of the crusher discharge port, which can effectively ensure the safe operation of the equipment. When there is a foreign object in the crushing chamber, the hydraulic system can automatically retract the moving cone. After the foreign object is discharged, the system will automatically reset the retracted moving cone.

Impact sand making machine: By switching between "stone to stone" and "stone to iron" dual modes, basalt particles are shaped into cubes with a needle like content of less than 5%, meeting the high-speed railway aggregate standards.

Wheel sand washing machine: equipped with double spiral blades, with a processing capacity of 100 tons per hour, it can effectively remove mud powder below 0.075mm in basalt, and the sand washing recovery rate is as high as 95%.

Vibration screen: Three layer screen design, synchronously producing finished sand in three specifications of 0-5mm, 5-10mm, and 10-20mm, with gradation continuity in accordance with ASTM C33 standard.
